Meet the Hobbs

Occasionally a client and a story come along that completely capture us and remind us why we seriously love what we do.

Meet Paul and Luann Hobbs.

Paul and Luann Hobbs met a short 48 years ago while Paul was an active service member from California stationed at Hill Air-force Base in Utah. Luann grew up in Ogden Utah and for fear of reducing their history to a quick glossing over– they met on base, fell in love, and started a family together. Together they raised 3 daughters and 1 son who in turn gave them 7 amazing grandkids.

During their 46.5 years (Paul wouldn’t want me to round up on this) of marriage Paul and Luann decided that renting made more sense for their family.  Now that the kids are grown; they have scattered and made homes of their own from Seattle to Southern Utah, and Paul and Luann found themselves questioning why they were holding on to a rental in downtown Salt Lake. Their kids were all far away now and the fast pace of the city wasn’t feeling like home anymore. Through some smart financial decisions on their part and a family inheritance the Hobbs had saved enough money that purchasing a home was now a reality and even better a reality they could pay for in cash.

After meeting with their Alliance agent Ashley they narrowed in on a list of what was most important in the place they would call home. It was important to Luann that their new home be close to their one daughter still living in the Salt Lake Valley. It was important to Paul that their home be move in ready, needing no work and preferably new. Above all it was important to both of them that the home be one they could comfortably enjoy the rest of their lives together.

We explored a few options with them including 55 and over communities, remodeled ramblers and town homes with master bedrooms on the main level and looked in almost every part of the Salt Lake valley. None of these options felt quite right until we were able to track down a brand new condo in Herriman. The glow on their faces showed that this one was “the one”. Luann couldn’t hide her smile and in his own stoic way Paul was equally giddy for this next adventure. They landed in a main level unit (check single level living box), with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a garage, any easy transition from their cramped 2 bed/1 bath rental. And the best part… The condo is located within walking distance of their daughter, son in law and their 2 grandsons so Luann can spend her days with them. Paul is an avid book collector and we are sure he will really let his passion take flight with all the additional space.

We feel honored to be the ones who helped Paul and Luann with their first and forever home.

It’s easy to see how a story like the Hobbs can reignite a passion for real estate and more importantly for the people we get to help create homes for, reminding us why we LOVE what we do.
